About Matthew Royle
Matthew focuses on patent litigation, opinion work, supplementary protection certificates (SPCs), paediatric extensions, and regulatory advice.
Matthew has a strong science background, holding a PhD in molecular immunology, which helps him engage quickly with the scientific aspects of a case. He has experience acting for clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences sectors, including medical devices.
Matthew is active in the U.K. Courts, representing clients in the Patents Court, Court of Appeal, and in two Supreme Court cases. He regularly co-ordinates pan-European litigation, attending hearings in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and Norway. He is also a UPC Representative and has acted for clients in a number of Divisions of the UPC (The Hague LD, Munich LD, Düsseldorf LD, Hamburg LD, Paris LD, Milan LD, Nordic-Baltic RD, Paris CD, and the Court of Appeal in Luxembourg).
