Philipp is a patent litigator with over 12 years of experience in intellectual property law. He focuses on patent and utility model disputes. Before joining Heuking, he gained extensive experience in IP and patent litigation at the international law firms Noerr and Simmons & Simmons.

Philipp advises clients across various technology sectors, particularly mechanical engineering, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. He has particular expertise in biosimilars, the automotive sector, and enforcing patents through preliminary injunctions. His practice also includes cross-border matters and collaboration with patent experts from other jurisdictions.

Since 2019, he holds the title of Certified Specialist Lawyer in Intellectual Property Law (Fachanwalt für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz). Philipp regularly publishes on intellectual property topics, both nationally and internationally, including a chapter on patent law aspects in the NOMOS handbook on artificial intelligence.

The Federal Circuit Bar Association (FCBA) selected Philipp as a Global Fellow 2023/2024. The program targets attorneys with 8-15 years of patent law experience and a strong international focus. Each year, the FCBA accepts 24 applicants identified as “potential future leaders.” In two four-day sessions in Washington D.C. and Munich, participants receive advanced training in international patent law and meet leading judges for discussions.

Vita

Philipp was admitted to the bar in 2011 and joined Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in October 2018. Previously, he worked at the Düsseldorf offices of Simmons & Simmons (2016-09/2018) and Noerr (2011-2016).

He completed his legal clerkship at the Regional Court of Münster and studied law at the University of Münster (2002–2007), focusing on intellectual property law.
