Dr. Christian Heine, a German Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, European Trademark Attorney, and European Design Attorney, joined HEUKING’s Düsseldorf office in January 2026. With over 20 years of experience as a Certified Patent Attorney, he has developed broad expertise in patent drafting, prosecution and opposition, as well as infringement and nullity proceedings before patent offices and federal patent courts worldwide.
He graduated in physics from Dortmund University in 1998, with a minor in medicine, and received his PhD in physics from RWTH Aachen in 2001. His technical expertise spans a wide range of fields, including electrical and mechanical engineering, medical devices, material science, and automotive technology.
In addition to his day-to-day work in patent drafting, prosecution, and litigation, he has experience with German regulations on employed inventors, license agreements, patent-related clauses in R&D contracts, freedom-to-operate opinions, IP-related due diligence procedures, and patent filing strategies.
Christian is a member of EPI (Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office) and the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys.
