Detlef Raasch, a German Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, European Trademark Attorney, and European Design Attorney, joined Heuking’s Düsseldorf office in January 2023. Working as a Certified Patent Attorney for more than 19 years, he has a broad range of experience, in particular in patent drafting, prosecution and opposition, infringement and nullity proceedings before worldwide patent offices and federal patent courts.

He graduated in physics in Hamburg in 1989 and received his PhD in physics in 1996. With more than 30 years of professional experience as a physicist, he has wide-ranging technical expertise in various technical fields, in particular optics and solid-state lighting, thin film technology and semiconductor manufacturing, materials physics, medical technology, environmental technology, and automotive technology.

In addition to his day-to-day work in patent drafting and prosecution as well as litigation, he has experience with trademark and design filings, license agreements, patent-related clauses of R&D contracts, freedom-to-operate opinions, patent filing strategies, software-related patents, and handling of classified inventions before patent offices.

Detlef is a member of EPI (Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office), the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys, and VPP (German Association of Intellectual Property Experts).
