Brexit, the UK's withdrawal from the UPC agreement, a plethora of judicial changes and the global coronavirus pandemic are just some challenges facing the UK patent market during 2020. However, the UK's patent lawyers have held on tight. As such, the market remains more or less stable, with lawyers retaining clients - and some even welcoming new work. But, as the effects of the pandemic continue to develop, the future remains uncertain. While the market gets ready for a new year of patent work, disruptions could still lie ahead.
