Tim Austen is a partner and barrister in the Intellectual Property team in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP.
He has appeared in the full range of courts and tribunals that deal with intellectual property matters including the UK Supreme Court in Warner-Lambert v Actavis, the UK Court of Appeal in Teva v AstraZeneca, Abbott v Dexcom, JCB v Manitou, Salts v Pelican and Dr Reddy’s v Warner-Lambert.
Tim’s unique combination of a strong technical background and deep experience at the very forefront of the litigation allows him to get to grips with cases quickly, and devise strategies that will appeal to many types of courts and tribunals: he understands what arguments will make judges tick and where effort should be focused for maximum results. He has a broad case experience over varied subject matter, including glucose monitoring devices, small molecules, antiboies, telehanders, cable laying ships, medical devices, electronic cigarettes and vehicle catalysts, amongst others.
