JUVE Patent

Pentarc – Germany 2026

JUVE Comment

This new IP boutique, a late 2025 spin-off from Taylor Wessing’s German patent practice, has quickly established itself with a strong presence in high-profile patent litigation across a broad spectrum of technology. Under a year after its launch, the law firm is already making its presence felt in both domestic and UPC cases. In both forums it is now posing a major challenge to established market players. The team around former Taylor Wessing partners Dietrich Kamlah and Christian Lederer as well as Anja Lunze and Jan Rektorschek is particularly visible in the life sciences sectors and in SEP battles.

In pharma, the firm represents several major generics and biosimilar manufacturers, including long-standing clients Stada, Sandoz, and Hexal. Highlights include representing Stada in the pan-European rivaroxaban litigation against Bayer. In the hi-tech and mobile communications sector, the firm is active for major players such as Samsung in disputes against Maxell and Evolved, and for the Oppo group against various NPEs. Furthermore, the team landed a significant new client in Walt Disney, which it represents in a multi-jurisdictional dispute against InterDigital over video streaming.

With their departure from Taylor Wessing – which marked the largest spin-off in the IP market in 20 years – the partners freed themselves from internal conflicts, particularly in relation to SEP proceedings, which led to Samsung instructing them in several cases. Contacts with the Korean company had existed for some time, but their former firm had primarily acted on behalf of SEP holders. Pentarc is now clearly positioned on the side of implementers. The same applies to pharmaceutical litigation, where the firm represents generics and biosimilar companies.

By recruiting a salary partner from Taylor Wessing, the firm managed to grow immediately after its foundation. Further growth will be key to maintaining the high caseload seen in the first few months and to ensuring consistently high quality. In August 2026 the founding partners reacted swiftly by promoting an associate to the position of salary partner.
