Bardehle Pagenberg – Germany 2026

JUVE Comment

This mixed German IP firm ranks among the market leaders in patent litigation. Although Bardehle Pagenberg has recently attracted attention primarily for its UPC track record, this should not obscure the fact that it is still in demand for purely domestic infringement and invalidity cases. The firm has handled numerous proceedings before national courts for clients including long-standing client Deutsche Telekom and hygiene products manufacturer Drylock.

The firm maintains a leading position in both Germany and at the UPC, across life sciences and biotech proceedings – representing long-standing clients such as Amgen – as well as in telecommunications. Long-standing clients including Philips and Access Advance, alongside new clients such as IdeaHub/Helios, instruct Bardehle for current cases, including those concerning video streaming.

This success stems partly from recent team expansion, through which the firm has achieved a balanced ratio of patent attorneys to solicitors. This reflects the firm’s commitment to deepening internal collaboration.

A further pillar is the solid growth of the prosecution practice, where the firm regularly represents clients in key EPO opposition proceedings and maintains a consistently high success rate.

Through its dynamic growth in UPC client representation, Bardehle has demonstrated that successful UPC positioning does not necessarily require international teams. Most recently, new client InterDigital relied on the team’s UPC experience in its global litigation campaign against Transsion over HEVC patents.

Strengths

Patent prosecution and mixed litigation practice primarily for mobile communications (including SEP und FRAND) and software patents. Strong European presence and excellent US contacts.
