Peterreins Schley – Germany 2026
JUVE Comment
This Munich-based mixed IP firm boasts a strong litigation practice for various clients in a wide range of technologies. The team regularly represents clients from the telecommunications and medical technology sectors but also regarding eletronics.
The firm’s litigation work is based not least on a prosecution practice that, whilst comparatively small, is highly specialised, serving clients such as Boston Scientific, Borg Warner, Insulet, and IPG. It also represents these frequently in litigation. The work of the patent attorneys, particularly for Boston Scientific and Borg Warner, makes the firm an above-average player in EPO opposition proceedings by German market standards.
The lawyer team, on the other hand, is extremely active on behalf of NPEs in mobile communications cases. With its action in 2025 on behalf of Onesta, the firm almost made legal history when it sued car giant BMW for an injunction at Munich Regional Court based on US patents. This high-profile case was, however, settled fairly quickly.
Strengths
The team is also highly active for Insulet in the medical devices sector, though most recently primarily in UPC proceedings. Peterreins Schley is among the most active IP boutiques at the European court. In this respect, the mixed team has skilfully leveraged its extensive litigation experience across all major litigation venues in Europe.Litigation involving medical technology. NPE suits in mobile communications and electronics.
