Although boasting just nine patent attorneys, this small patent attorney firm has a good reputation for patent prosecution involving chemicals, eletronics and mechanics patents. When it comes to the latter, law firms like to call on Bas Langenhuijsen for technical support in disputes before the Dutch patent courts. The firm recently worked alongside lawyers from Taylor Wessing, now operating under the brand Winston Taylor. Along with the latter, Patentwerk is also involved in a UPC case for Advanced Brain Monitoring against Philips regarding a sleep position therapy. Nevertheless, compared with other Dutch firms, the patent attorneys of Patentwerk have not yet appeared in UPC cases with any greater frequency.

In 2026, the firm has not only seen modest growth again by adding another patent attorney, but has also secured a major private equity investment, as many Dutch patent attorney firms have recently done. Since May 2026, Belgian developer of floor coverings i4F offers IP services to other companies. To this end, the private equity-backed technology company wants to unite several patent attorney firms under the new brand. Patentwerk is the first acquisition, with House of IP taking a majority stake. i4F and Patentwerk have worked together in patent prosecution and litigation for many years. The client’s entry into the firm enables the latter to make significant investments in IT and AI. However, the whole group is now under pressure to expand into other countries to remain competitive across Europe in prosecution and litigation.
