EIP – Germany 2026

JUVE Comment
The German team of this mixed international IP firm maintains a strong position in high-profile mobile communications litigation. It is well established in litigation on the side of SEP owners and NPEs, with a continuous stream of new lawsuits. The team around partner Christof Höhne was involved in a whole series of proceedings for HFI Innovation and its parent company MediaTek against Huawei. The firm also continues to litigate for regular clients Datang against Xiaomi and Evolved Wireless against Samsung.
With three partners experienced in SEP issues, the team is well-equipped to handle the influx of new lawsuits, although it remains small for extensive UPC proceedings. It therefore needs to grow to stay competitive for complex UPC lawsuits, which often run in parallel to national proceedings. EIP addressed this issue by bolstering its associate ranks with a young lawyer from Grünecker. The further development of the team becomes even more crucial with a significant shift in work towards the UPC. At the European court, EIP was active for MediaTek in the parallel proceedings to German case, as well as for Asus (Celerity) against Oppo and Xiaomi until both cases settled.
Furthermore, Höhne is co-counseling with Carpmaels & Ransford for Curio Bioscience against 10x Genomics over diagnostic devices at the Düsseldorf local division. At the UPC, the firm is playing out its well-established cross-border cooperation. For example, a mixed German-Swedish-UK team is handling cases in Düsseldorf and Milan for Labrador Diagnostics against bioMérieux regarding diagnostic devices. However, this expertise in biotech disputes has not yet translated into national German work.
