De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek – Netherlands 2026
Rankings
JUVE Comment
The patent litigation team at this Dutch full-service firm remains visible in the Dutch market. Although soft IP, M&A transactions and pre-litigation advice to the firm’s long-standing clients occupy a significant portion of the team’s work, it regularly appears in Dutch court proceedings. Recent prominent cases include work for Sonos and GSK. The representation of the pharmaceutical originator GSK — a focus of the practice — also encompassed UPC matters.
The patent team benefits from the considerable international reputation of lead partner Anne Marie Verschuur. Her move from Nauta Dutilh in 2023 brought the patent team at De Brauw considerable stability following a period of staff upheaval. To compete with other strong Dutch patent practices such as Pinsent Masons, the next step would be to establish the practice with a more consistent focus on patents, for example through new instructions outside the life sciences sector. This would also help the team gain a stronger foothold in UPC proceedings.
Supreme Court cases remain the patent team’s second pillar, with partner Tobias Cohen Jehoram a leading figure in IP. He represented Sonos in the subsequently settled dispute with Google over audio speakers.
