Michiel de Baat is a European, Dutch and Belgian Patent Attorney. He joined the firm in 2013 and brings 20 years of experience as a patent attorney. Michiel’s practice focuses on mechanical and electrical engineering, including glass coatings, medical devices, horticulture, automotive and greentech.
In addition to the drafting of patents, he prosecutes patents at the different official patent bodies. His experience at the European Patent Office (EPO) includes many Oppositions and Oppositions in Appeal. Michiel regularly represents clients in Dutch, Belgian and UPC patent infringement proceedings and he has experience in managing and coordinating US (ITC, DC, PTAB) and Japanese (Tokyo High Court) patent infringement and validity cases.
Michiel has an eye for detail, especially the commercial aspects of inventions, and consistently strives to obtain the best results for his clients.
Before joining HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER, Michiel worked for over ten years at several patent firms in The Netherlands and Belgium.
