JUVE Patent

Duclos Thorne Mollet-Viéville & Associés – France 2026

JUVE Comment

The patent practice of this national full-service firm is well known for litigation. Clients from a wide array of technical fields seek out the team for their cases. Its extensive experience in the national courts makes it a strong choice for proceedings in France, as shown for example in the litigation for Japanese client Bigben in its dispute with Nintendo. Recent work also includes litigation in pharma and medical technology, software and telecoms as well as in the automotive sector. In other cases, the team successfully advised on settlements while also being active in pre-litigation advice. This background work currently keeps the team busy alongside the still pending extensive litigation cases.

Of the partners, Thomas Cuche in particular remains visible in high-profile litigation, representing new international clients such as Kenwood and Adobe. DTMV led the UPC case for US client Adobe, demonstrating that, after advising on French law in some proceedings alongside German law firms, DTMV has successfully gained a foothold at the pan-European court. However, despite boasting one of the largest patent litigation teams of all national French firms, DTMV has not yet managed to develop any young talent. Experience has shown that the UPC could be an ideal platform to give younger lawyers room to grow.
