Tim Whitfield is a partner at Powell Gilbert, a specialist European IP firm.
He is also a qualified solicitor-advocate and registered UPC representative.
Tim advises clients in contentious IP matters across a wide range of technologies, especially complex multijurisdictional disputes requiring international co-ordination. Tim’s strong scientific background allows him readily to understand and explain complex technical issues, and he has advised on patents and litigation strategy relating to a diverse range of technologies, including pharmaceutical and biotechnology products, formulations and processes, medical devices, consumer products, automotive technologies, electronics and SEP issues.
Tim regularly assists in resolution of disputes arising from technology licensing arrangements, and also has experience of IP-related damages claims, pharmaceutical regulatory issues, patent portfolio due diligence / FTO projects, contentious design right issues and trade mark infringement disputes.
Tim is routinely retained to co-ordinate multi-jurisdictional patent litigation campaigns across many technical sectors, and has been highly active in helping clients to develop coherent patent litigation strategies to take account of the additional layer of strategic complexity arising from the advent of the UPC.
