Dirk Bröcher has worked in the field of intellectual property since 2001 and advises German and international clients at GILLE HRABAL, Düsseldorf, Germany, in the areas of patents, utility models, trademarks, designs and SPCs in both litigation and prosecution.
His main focus is on patent protection and enforcement in the technical fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals and life science including polymer chemistry, process engineering, technical chemistry, physical chemistry, agrochemistry, biotechnology and medical devices.
In his practice, Dirk is handling national and international patent litigation, opposition, nullity and appeal proceedings. He represents globally leading companies and corporations from Europe, Japan, Korea, China and USA. Besides, his clients also include small and medium-sized companies located in Germany.
He supervises international IP portfolios, drafts patent applications and handles worldwide parallel examination proceedings. He conducts freedom-to-operate search and develops strategies to reduce the client’s related risks. Moreover, he provides expert opinions and due diligence analyses.
At the University of Strasbourg, he acquired a diploma in European Patent Litigation (“D.U. Contentieux des Brevets en Europe”) in 2015 and has expert knowledge in the area of the unitary patent system.
Dirk is Lecturer at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf in the M.Sc. program Industrial Pharmacy, module Intellectual Properties. Furthermore, he leads seminars at the FORUM Institute in Patent Case Law.
