Jérémie Palacci (46) built his career at Cabinet Netter, where he became partner in 2012 and later General Director. A French and European patent attorney, Palacci brings recognised technical expertise in artificial intelligence and quantum computing to the group.
A highlight of his work was the case for Ascendance Flight Technologies against the Japan Patent Office, after it questioned the novelty of a filed design patent covering a new hybrid aeroplane. The case involved evidence from an image held by web.archive.org, which the JPO asserted Ascendance Flight Technologies had disclosed prior to filing, based on an archival snapshot of the website.
Using the time code of the archive’s snapshot image of the design patent, as well as the virtual URL for the website, Palacci and his team proved that the Wayback Machine held an image containing false code, which loaded another image from another date.
Palacci has gained extensive experience working with deeptech start-ups as well as the R&D teams of leading French and international industrial groups such as C.N.R.S., INRIA and Adtran.
He also regularly advises on technical matters alongside litigators in national patent litigation, for example for Apple (alongside Google) in a dispute against inventor Ferid Allani over technology used in iOS and Android phones.
For Plasseraud, this marks another step in its growth strategy. The firm is one of the largest French IP firms, with a mixed team of lawyers and patent attorneys. Recently, the firm strengthened its litigation team in particular. In 2023 Sandrine Bouvier-Ravon joined from Cousin & Associés and at the beginning of this year, the team of Paris-based IP boutique Candé Blanchard Ducamp joined Plasseraud. The firm also opened an office in Amsterdam with patent attorney Johan Renes from Simmons & Simmons.
Bertrand Loisel, CEO of Plasseraud IP, and Ina Schreiber, partner and head of patent department, said: “Jérémie’s arrival is fully in line with the group’s development strategy, at the crossroads of technology and strategy. His expertise in AI and quantum technologies represents a key asset to support our clients in addressing the technological challenges of tomorrow.”
Jérémie Palacci noted the shared vision of how the innovation services market is evolving. “Joining Plasseraud IP Group is an opportunity for me to continue growing while relying on a diversity of talents and skills for the benefit of our clients,” he said.
