Nicholas Fox

Fox started his career in 1995 at IP firm Beresford. Gill Jennings & Every acquired the firm in March 2019 and Fox qualified as a patent attorney there. He worked in patent prosecution and litigation related to electronics for clients such as Canon, Intel and Leapfrog.

Cross-border experience

After spells at smaller IP firms Ipulse and IP Asset, Fox moved to Simmons & Simmons in November 2011. Here, he was involved in multinational litigation for clients such as Samsung Electronics, Teva, Imperial Tobacco, Bose and ASML.

At the beginning of 2019 he moved as a partner to the London office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, where he was responsible for overseeing the firm’s European electronics prosecution practice. His clients included such companies as OPPO, Mobileye and Astellas Pharma. Fox left Finnegan in April this year.

Fox joins large Mathys team

At Mathys & Squire he joins a team of over 70 patent attorneys, who specialise in a wide range of technical fields. The firm is particularly active in patent filing and prosecution for notable clients such as Abbott, AbbVie, BP, Cisco, Kenwood, NEC as well as EPO oppositions for Cook Medical, 3M, Moderna and Novartis. The team also advises clients in litigation before the IPEC or the High Court – often alongside lawyers from law firms such as Taylor Wessing on behalf of Abbott in the dispute with Dexcom.

At Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, a team of 13 patent attorneys remains. This includes four partners, one of which is also a patent litigator. In 2021 the US firm opened an office in Munich with a team from Baker McKenzie.
