François Pochart joined August Debouzy in 2011, after having worked as a French and European patent attorney for more than 15 years. A graduate of Polytechnique, ENSIC, Paris Law University and CEIPI, François is a lawyer and an engineer.
Together with Grégoire Desrousseaux he heads a team of lawyers and patent attorneys, a large number of whom have dual legal and technical qualifications.
Working in the Technologies, Media, Intellectual Property Department, he assists French and foreign clients with all patent-related issues: patent litigation before domestic courts and coordination of cross-border patent litigation (including global litigations in the pharmaceuticals field); EPO litigation (oppositions and appeals), including oral proceedings in Munich or the Hague; opposition before the French IP Office (INPI); patent application and drafting strategies; freedom to operate analysis; valuation, licensing, negotiation and drafting of contracts: assignments, licenses, co-ownership agreements, confidentiality, collaboration, co-development, R&D, pledges, service agreements and settlements. He is one of the major French players in patent litigation concerning life sciences and medical devices. His diverse experience (in small molecules, biological products, formulas, medical devices, secondary therapeutic applications, etc.), combined with thorough knowledge of the regulations concerning medicines and medical devices and a close collaboration with August Debouzy’s Public and Regulatory team, makes him and his team highly effective in dealing with the most complex topics, in particular on regulatory issues and issues in connection with supplementary protection certificates (SPCs).
He contributes to the transmission of knowledge by lecturing in patent law at professional associations, training organizations and universities (especially: Politecnico de Milan, C5, Life Science Patent Network, MIP). Firmly believing that experience sharing stimulates individual and collective talents, François and his team also organize patent workshops for clients.
