Dehmel & Bettenhausen bolsters patent attorney team in Munich
Dehmel & Bettenhausen has strengthened its team with an additional patent attorney, Hajo Peters, who joins as a partner from IP firm Zacco. Among other things, Peters is set to expand the international work of the Bavarian patent firm.

Hajo Peters
As a trained biochemist, Hajo Peters (56) specialises in advising the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Dehmel & Bettenhausen has a particular focus in this area.
Peters’ clients also include recycling companies like Remondis, various universities in Asia and the US, and medical technology manufacturers.
Peters joins some old acquaintances at Dehmel & Bettenhausen. He has known name partner and co-founder Berthold Bettenhausen since they took the patent attorney exam together, and previously worked with patent attorney and partner Florian Rückerl at patent attorney firm Graf von Stosch. Peters worked there from 2009 to 2010, in a managing partner role, among others.
Prior to this, Peters gained three years of in-house experience in the patents department of Spanish pharma company Laboratorios Dr. Esteve in Barcelona. Since then he has frequently advised the group, for example on filing and oppositions at the EPO.
Dehmel & Bettenhausen expands reach
For the past ten years, Hajo Peters held a senior position at Zacco. The IP firm, which has Scandinavian roots, is active around the world with numerous offices in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the UK, Germany and India. Here, Peters forged contacts among companies in the Indo-Pacific region and North America.
Peters therefore complements the international portfolio of Dehmel & Bettenhausen, which, in addition to the US, Japan and Thailand, works mainly for European clients.
The Bavarian firm launched in 1999 and has offices in Munich and Regensburg. The arrival of Hajo Peters takes the team to a total of seven patent attorneys and one lawyer. In addition to filing patents, advisory work focuses on the drafting of IP contracts, including licensing, research and distribution agreements, in the life sciences sector and, in particular, the pharma and biotech industry.
From Peters to Prusko
After Hajo Peters’ departure, six patent attorneys and two lawyers remain at Zacco’s three German offices in Munich, Bremen and Hamburg, with Carsten Prusko taking over most of Peters’ assignments. The biochemist regularly advises clients in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, immunology and pharmaceuticals.
In Germany, the firm also specialises in physics, electrical and mechanical engineering, medical technology and food production. Clients include Osram, Ericsson and surgical equipment manufacturer Maquet.
