Bosch Jehle – Germany 2024

JUVE Comment
This Munich-based patent attorney firm has an excellent reputation for litigation involving electronics patents and communications technology. The patent attorneys work hand in hand with lawyers from other independent law firms, such as Wildanger. Last year, the firm’s work on VoiceAge EVS’s voice coding case was intensive. The team also conducted extensive lawsuits for clients such as Crystal Clear Codec and Atlas Global.
The team around Thomas Hell and Rudolf Reichold is primarily active for patent owners and NPEs. Despite its stable client base, the team has not grown dynamically of late. The firm will need to address this issue in the medium term. The litigation practice, which has recently attracted new clients such as medical technology company Microvention, has grown slighty and thus offers a good basis for this.
European set-up
The ten-strong team of patent attorneys is highly experienced in litigation and regularly takes on a coordinating role in pan-European proceedings. The firm has a clear position representing owners of mobile communications and semiconductor patents, mainly on the plaintiff side. There are thus no conflicts in its smooth cooperation with litigation boutiques.
Since the firm’s core client base has held back during the initial phase of the UPC, Bosch Jehle’s activities at the UPC are so far few and far between. However, this could change soon if its NPE clients gain more confidence in the court and begin to file lawsuits here. While the firm faces heavy competition, its highly specialised and focused approach does not appear to put it at a disadvantage as this results in scarcely any internal conflicts, even compared to international boutiques.
