Peterreins Schley – UPC 2026

JUVE Comment

The mixed IP boutique Peterreins Schley has seamlessly continued its success from the initial years of the UPC. This success is primarily built on a strong presence for NPEs in cases concerning mobile communications and semiconductors. The firm was among the first movers to test the new court for such lawsuits with clients like Daedalus Prime and Headwater Research. This early engagement has led to new NPE cases for Fingon, Lionra Technologies, and Nera Innovations.

In its second key area, medical technology and devices, the firm continues to perform at a high level. A notable instruction was the intensive battle for Insulet against EOFlow and Menarini, which has now largely concluded. However, further disputes for Onward Medical and IPG Laser quickly followed.

Its presence in both sectors makes Peterreins Schley one of the most active IP boutiques in UPC business, although larger firms like Bardehle Pagenberg or Hoyng ROKH Monegier have recently pulled ahead with more high-profile cases. The firm remains stable in terms of headcount and maintains its commitment to a mixed approach. It handles major cases for clients such as Insulet, Nera, and Malikie with integrated teams of patent attorneys and lawyers.

However, to close the gap on more visible IP boutiques, Peterreins Schley will need to expand its UPC activities into other technical areas. The current staff line-up offers good potential for this expansion. Moreover, the firm has amassed substantial UPC experience that it can leverage in additional sectors.
