Grünecker – UPC 2025
Rankings
JUVE Comment
This mixed law firm had a good start in the initial months of the UPC. Immediately after the new court opened, Grünecker filed a suit for its core client Broadcom/Avago against Tesla at the local division Munich over chips for automotive application. It was clear the action would not be a one-hit wonder as the small litigation team had already repeatedly represented the semiconductor manufacturer in multiple actions against car manufacturers at German courts. Recently, Grünecker filed a second UPC complaint against Stellantis and Opel. However, Grünecker does not advise Broadcom/Avago on an exclusive basis; the client is also relying on EIP in other UPC complaints.
Grünecker also guided other regular clients to the new court. Roche Diabetes, for which the firm traditionally files patents, is banking on Grünecker and lawyers from Kather Augenstein for two proceedings concerning insulin pumps. For Rematec and Haefele, Grünecker patent attorneys had already registered the patents-in-suit, while for Canfield Scientific a mixed team had already been involved in parallel national disputes against Quantificare. Grünecker is operating in mixed teams in all cases except for Roche Diabetes. However, the lawyer team already has an extensive workload in view of the considerable number of proceedings, meaning the firm will have to grow sooner or later.
