Patentwerk – Netherlands 2024
JUVE Comment
Although boasting just eight patent attorneys, this small patent attorney firm has a good reputation for patent prosecution involving chemicals, eletronics and mechanics patents. When it comes to the latter, law firms like to call on Bas Langenhuijsen and Hein van den Heuvel in patent disputes before the Dutch patent courts for their technical support.
Patentwerk is less visible than NLO, V.O. and De Vries & Metman in big-ticket litigation for major industrial corporates because it focuses entirely on representing innovative companies from the Dutch SME sector. But with this clear focus and its technical experience, law firms such as Vondst and Brinkhof often work with Patentwerk’s patent attorneys.
European set-up
Although seven of eight patent attorneys have registered as UPC representatives, as of September 2024 the firm was not present in UPC cases. But, although the firm is primarily active in national proceedings for Dutch companies, work before the UPC is not a main focus for Patentwerk.
Strengths
