JUVE Patent

Peterreins Schley – Germany 2024

JUVE Comment

This mixed Munich IP firm is a rising star in the litigation market. This is mainly due to the great reputation of the team around Thomas Adam in representing NPEs. For example, various companies of the Irish Atlantic IP group are among the firm’s regular clients. Current highlights include the litigation for Daedalus Prime, Headwater Research and Pictiva. The team is also highly active in technologies related to electronics. Frank Peterreins and Jan-Malte Schley are frequently seen in EPO oppositions and represent major players in medical device manufacturing, such as Boston Scientific.

European set-up

The Munich IP firm has made a strong start at the UPC, suing Xiaomi and MediaTek on behalf of Daedalus Prime, as well as for Headwater Research against Samsung Electronics, and Nera Innovations against Xiaomi. In addition to these three mobile communications cases, the client Lionra Technologies is also entrusting the firm with proceedings against Cisco over semiconductors. This shows that clients trust the team for UPC cases, and it is building up experience in the new system much faster than competitors whose clients are still hesitant, such as NPEs. These also show that the practice is experienced and large enough to handle parallel national and UPC proceedings. The team can now use this success and its experience in electronics to raise its market profile and set itself apart from competitors.

Strengths
