Dr. Stefan Warbek – Austria 2025

JUVE Comment
Outside Vienna, the Innsbruck-based firm remains one of Austria’s most renowned practices for IP law. Name partner Stefan Warbek enjoys an excellent reputation for litigation and advisory work at the intersection of IP, IT and data protection. The firm advises its long-standing clients – primarily companies based in western Austria – not only on IP and IT law but also on corporate and trust law. At this juncture, advice on research and development collaborations has recently been in high demand among clients.
Additionally, the team advises international companies on their Austrian operations in trademark law. Furthermore, Warbek attracts substantial work thanks to his considerable experience in copyright law. He also regularly advises the Austrian Ski Association on unfair competition proceedings, data protection issues and corporate law matters. Several patent attorney firms with which the practice has close ties serve as important sources of IP litigation work.
The number of national patent litigation cases in Vienna is declining and Warbek is not currently involved in any new cases. The firm plays no role in UPC proceedings and, given its positioning, is unlikely to be clients’ first port of call, partly because patent attorneys can represent clients without lawyer assistance. It is therefore strategically astute for the firm to focus more intensively on other IP fields.
