Simon Ayrton is a partner at Powell Gilbert, a specialist European IP firm.
He is a Solicitor Advocate and UPC Representative, and has also been appointed by the Court on a number of occasions to supervise the execution of search orders by other firms of solicitors.
Simon has over 30 years’ experience in IP litigation, arbitration and counselling, advising on patent, breach of confidence, copyright, design, trade mark and passing off issues. He is often asked by clients to advise on global litigation strategy and to co-ordinate proceedings with parallel actions elsewhere in the world, particularly across Europe.
He obtained an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University in 1989 before commencing his legal training. His practice covers a broad range of IP rights and technologies, including being involved in several of the key mobile communication (including FRAND), chemistry, pharmaceutical and engineering disputes in the UK over the last 30 years and more recently in the UPC.
