Witte Weller strengthens ranks while Glawe Delfs Moll refocuses

The German patent firm Glawe Delfs Moll restructured at the beginning of the year. It has shrunk to ten patent attorneys and longer has lawyers in its team. Hamburg is now the only office, with its previous Stuttgart partner having now moved to Witte Weller.

Physicist Markus Hössle was the face of Glawe Delfs Moll’s Stuttgart office for eight years. At the turn of the year, he moved to the Stuttgart patent firm Witte Weller. Here, he strengthens the firm’s expertise in computer-implemented inventions and the patenting of software. The firm is a top dog for patent law in Stuttgart and is known for its prosecution work, particularly for patents involving electronic components, traditional mechanics and life sciences.

Hössle’s well-known clients include the Canadian automotive supplier Magna, Schweiz Elektronik AG, a printed circuit-board manufacturer from the Black Forest and the concrete pump manufacturer Putzmeister. The Stuttgart firm now has 20 patent attorneys.

With Hössle’s departure, Glawe Delfs Moll is closing its Stuttgart office. The firm has also closed its Munich office following the retirement of partner Bernhard Merkau. Ten patent attorneys remain in the Hamburg office. The remaining team is known for its experience in technically complex electronics and mechanics cases, as well as in mobile communications.

The Hamburg team is now more focused and no longer employs lawyers. Instead, it relies on external lawyers for litigation. Part of the firm’s restructuring will also include new career models as an associate outside of the partnership.
