JUVE to present accolades to two winners for patent law in Germany

With just hours until Frankfurt's historic opera house opens its doors to nominees and guests of the JUVE Awards 2025, four German patent firms and four in-house patent teams are among the nominees across 18 categories. Only one law firm and one in-house team will emerge victorious in the patent categories tonight.

The German legal community has a long night ahead in Frankfurt. Until dawn, lawyers, patent attorneys and in-house representatives will celebrate the winners of this year’s JUVE Awards. After dancing the night away, the last guests typically leave the festively decorated opera house at 6am.

But prior to the celebration with live music, the awards will be presented during a ceremony in the main opera hall beginning at 7pm. The JUVE Awards will once again focus on the German and Austrian legal market. Law firms will be honoured in 15 different categories for their achievements and dynamic developments. JUVE is also honouring in-house teams in three categories. Two of the 18 categories will be presented for patent law.

The nominees for JUVE Law Firm of the Year for Patent are:

  • CBH Rechtsanwälte
  • Clifford Chance
  • Finnegan Henderson Farabow Garrett & Dunner
  • Wildanger Kehrwald Graf v. Schwerin & Partner

The nominees for In-house Team of the Year for Patent are:

  • BASF
  • Covestro
  • Huawei
  • Valeo

New this year

JUVE will present the two awards in the patent category on stage at the Frankfurt Opera House. In previous years these awards have been given in the broader category of IP, but from now on the two awards will focus exclusively on the activities of law firms and companies in patent law. Their work in soft IP will no longer play a role.

This reflects the increasing importance of patent litigation in this advisory segment and the significantly higher dynamism of the companies and law firms operating in this field.

After many years, JUVE has decided to reduce the number of nominees from five to four per category. In times of ever-increasing award ceremonies and honours in ever more categories, we are now placing even greater focus on the depth and quality of our research.
