JUVE Patent identified 17 rising stars as Ones to Watch in 2024. For the first time since JUVE Patent began awarding this accolade, almost half of the up-and-coming talents are women.

This year, eight of the 17 Ones to Watch candidates that JUVE Patent identified as up-and-coming talents with an interesting career path are women. This indicates that more female partners are coming to the fore in European patent litigation practices.
However, the JUVE Patent Ones to Watch are by no means all lawyers. With Lars Grannemann and Emily Nikolic, two patent attorneys with litigation experience have found their way onto the list. Edward Cronan, a young UK barrister, is also among this year’s Ones to Watch.
The candidates come from the countries for which JUVE Patent publishes rankings on the patent litigation markets. Six lawyers come from Germany, five from the UK and three each from France and the Netherlands. JUVE Patent did not publish a Ones to Watch list for UPC litigation.
In December, JUVE Patent published a ranking for UPC litigation for the first time. However, the editorial team decided not to publish an accompanying Ones to Watch list because it is a new market for all representatives working at the new court. No matter whether junior or senior litigator, partner or associate, lawyer or patent attorney, all UPC representatives had the same starting conditions.
Nevertheless, during research JUVE Patent found that working for the UPC offers young litigators greater opportunities to present themselves in the market than was previously the case in national litigation.
These are the JUVE Patent Ones to Watch 2024 for national markets in alphabetical order. Read JUVE Patent’s detailed profiles on each of the 17 patent litigators:
