Beck Greener and Graham Watt & Co. have joined forces.

Graham Watt & Co. was originally founded in 1955 and maintains offices in London and Kent. The firm advises on patents, trademarks, copyright, and design law.

In patent law, the firm focuses on biotech, engineering, telecoms, software, process engineering, and chemistry. The team features one partner, one counsel and an associate, all of whom are qualified European patent attorneys.

Beck Greener’s roots date back to 1867, advising clients on patents, trademarks, designs, and copyright. The IP-firm operates from London and Alicante and has eleven partners and eight associates, plus one of counsel. Thirteen of the team are European patent attorneys and qualified Unified Patent Court representatives.

According to the EPO register, Air Products and Chemicals as well as Dow Global are key clients for the firm, filing many patent applications. Beck Greener also files patents for Amazon and Dish Technologies. The latter is currently waging litigation at the UPC against Aylo over streaming technology. Beck Greener filed both patents-in-suit.

Trend towards larger practices

In August, Graham Watt & Co. joined Beck Greener to expand its capabilities and client offering. Matt Dixon, Executive Chair of Beck Greener, says, “I’m delighted to welcome the Graham Watt team to Beck Greener and look forward to growing our combined business together.”

Recently, patent attorney firms Venner Shipley and AA Thornton completed a major merger in the UK patent attorney market. The two outfits have been operating jointly under the name Venner Shipley since December 2024.

In the months that followed, there were no further mergers in the UK market. In Germany, however, at the beginning of the year a large number of patent attorneys from König Szynka Tilmann joined Reneesse, which is part of the significantly larger law firm Hoffmann Eitle.
