About Matthew Royle, Ph.D.
Matthew specialises in patent litigation, opinion work, supplementary protection certificates, paediatric extensions, and regulatory advice. He also has a strong science background, holding a PhD in molecular immunology and has particular experience acting for clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences sectors.
Matthew is active in advising in national courts and the Unified Patent Court. He has recently acted for a prominent life sciences company before the UK Courts, Unified Patent Court and co-ordinating parallel national proceedings. This included the first hearing in the Hague local division of the UPC as well as proceedings in the Munich, Düsseldorf and Paris Local Divisions and the Nordic-Baltic Regional Division, where expert evidence was adduced and cross-examination ordered for the first time.
