Gisbert Hohagen heads up the German Practice Group Patents Technology & Life Sciences of Taylor Wessing. He is one of the most recognized lawyers in the field of patent law in Europe.
For more than 20 years, he has been advising national and international companies on intellectual property matters with a focus on patent and utility model law as well as employee invention law. His main practice focus is on litigation in patent infringement proceedings as well as advice in the field of product launches, particularly in the life sciences and high-tech engineering sectors.
His legal work is characterised by a high level of technical understanding. Gisbert has particular expertise in complex cross-border patent infringement proceedings. He regularly acts as legal counsel in opposition and nullity proceedings before the European Patent Office and the Federal Patent Court.
In recent times Gisbert has led the German patents group into becoming one of the preeminent law firms at the UPC. Having practiced in multiple UPC proceedings, including one of the largest litigation complexes filed with the new court, Gisbert is one of the leading experts in UPC litigation.
He is a member of many IP associations, including the Deutsche Vereinigung fĂĽr Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht (GRUR) and International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). Gisbert Hohagen is also president of the German group of the UNION of European Practitioners in Intellectual Property (UNION-IP).
