Markus Bölling contributes to the success of Mitscherlich’s litigation team with his vast experience in IP litigation work gathered throughout his professional career. While handling all kinds of litigation proceedings with the utmost dedication, he has particular expertise in managing complex, often multi-jurisdictional infringement cases and developing sophisticated attack and defense strategies therefor, which are specifically tailored for effectively achieving his clients’ goals.
Already during his law studies at the University of Bonn, Markus placed a special focus on civil procedural law. Before being admitted to the bar in 2006, Markus obtained his PhD in trademark law from the University of Hanover. After completing his training, he continued to participate in the scientific discourse with numerous publications on IP topics, some of them recognized even by the German Federal Supreme Court and the German Federal Patent Court.
Early on, Markus was fascinated by the Unitary Patent Package, including the implementation of the Unified Patent Court and the new European Patent with Unitary Effect. Already in 2014, he published a detailed overview of this new and intriguing patent and litigation system as a co-author in the Quarterly Journal of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. To this day, Markus is intensively involved in this subject area and actively advises and represents his clients before the UPC.
Markus joined Mitscherlich in 2010. He advises and represents national and international clients of all sizes from diverse business sectors, including media, automotive, chemical, healthcare and consumer electronics.
