CBH Rechtsanwälte – UPC 2025

JUVE Comment

The IP team of this full-service German law firm is valued by its SME client base for its extensive litigation experience across a wide range of technical fields. The lawyers represent several of these long-standing clients in UPC proceedings. For example, a Munich team is now representing Phoenix Contact in the UPC proceedings against ILME, having previously represented the company in a national dispute against Harting, which included a question referred to the CJEU.

CBH has also used its good relationships with patent attorney firms to acquire new clients for UPC cases. The practice started out with proceedings for i-mop over cleaning devices and for MSG Maschinenbau over measuring technology.

The clear focus on representing often German-based SMEs has proven a good basis for future UPC work. SMEs are already turning to the UPC when they can benefit from its scope and speed. CBH also benefits from the local divisions in Germany having already gained a certain amount of trust among these companies due to the comparatively large number of cases heard there.
