JUVE Comment
This midsized, respected patent attorney firm continues to build up activity. On the patent attorney side, P&P landed an extensive new prosecution instruction: Knorr Bremse. Patent attorney Emmerling, who joined in 2015 from Betten & Resch, raised his visibility in patent litigation, e.g. for Huawei as well as Acer and Trekstor. The mixed litigation approach pursued by P&P for a good three years is bearing ever greater fruit: its own lawyers are integrated increasingly consistently into litigation for regular client Brother.
Strengths
Patent prosecution with technical expertise in electronics, mobile communications, mechanics and pharmaceuticals.
Development potential
Setting up an in-house litigation practice is the right step with respect to the UPC launch. If the firm succeeds in bringing its own lawyers more effectively into play in litigation, as it did for Huawei, it will improve its chances of being considered for high-end litigation work by other companies.
Recommended individuals
Dr. Friedrich Emmerling.
Team
17 patent attorneys, 3 lawyers
Practice
Strong focus on patent prosecution related to pharmaceuticals, medical technology, electronics, increasingly mobile communications and traditional engineering. Nullity and opposition suits. Increasingly infringement proceedings with integrated teams. Also trademarks and unfair competition.
