JUVE Patent

Aramis – France 2022

JUVE Comment

This well-positioned international IP team owes its market position to litigation for international clients in the French part of pan-European or global proceedings. In recent years, the litigation for Zentiva against Eli Lilly over pemetrexed has helped to raise its visibility. The firm also boasts strong ties to Allergan. The team led by Benjamin May has grown by a number of associates experienced in patent litigation in recent years and thus has the manpower that these complex cases call for. It is not only clients from the life sciences sector which have long trusted in the firm: it represented, for example, Enyx in a complex suit involving software patents and Belmoca in the extensive coffee capsule dispute.

Litigation for life sciences clients.

European set-up

Although the French litigation team does not nurture any formal partnerships or fixed ties to firms in other countries, its patent litigation experience is almost exclusively based on the French part of international cases. This is what sets the team apart from competitors of a similar size in national French firms like Armengaud & Guerlain. Life sciences clients are particularly keen to trust the firm with critical instructions within global cases. For the UPC, however, the team will have to decide whether its independent national set-up is the best option for its clients in the long term. With its experience, Aramis would make a good sparring partner for many German, Dutch or British firms.
