As a partner in the engineering department of Weickmann & Weickmann since 2000, Volker has intensive technical expertise from his work for his clients, in various technical fields, such as in the fields of mechanical engineering including precision mechanics (e.g. bicycle components), textile machines (in particular spinning and winding machines), cleanroom logistic systems, lighting systems, electronics, telecommunication systems and computer related inventions.
Volker is very experienced in drafting of patent and utility model applications, patent grant and opposition proceedings before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, the Federal Patent Court and the European Patent Office, nullity proceedings before the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Court of Justice and infringement proceedings before civil courts. Further aspects of his regular work are licensing agreements, infringement and validity opinions and freedom-to-operate and due-diligence analyses.
He studied Physics in Hannover and London and completed his doctoral thesis on semiconductor laser technology at the Department for Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich. Volker has been working in the field of intellectual property since 1993, qualified as German patent attorney as well as European trademark and design attorney in 1997 and as European patent attorney in 1998.
Volker is a member of various professional organizations, such as the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys (Patentanwaltskammer), the European Patent Institute (epi), the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR). His working languages are German and English.
