Thomas is Co-Founder and Partner at TALIENS Germany and heads the patent litigation practice in Munich/Germany.
He represents clients in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, mechanics, medical devices, chemistry and pharmaceuticals in patent infringement proceedings at all relevant patent infringement courts in Germany (first instance courts as well as courts of appeal). He also represents clients in opposition and nullity proceedings at the European Patent Office, the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court and the German Federal Court of Justice.
Thomas has extensive experience in patent infringement cases involving standard-essential patents / a FRAND license defence. Thomas has also relevant experience in international arbitration proceedings, and advises clients in connection with patent license agreements and employee invention law.
Prior to co-founding TALIENS, Thomas was inhouse counsel at Infineon Technologies (2004 – 2007), Counsel in the patent litigation group of Bird & Bird (2007 – 2011) as well as Patent Litigation Partner at Olswang (2011 – 2017). He studied law at the Universities of Freiburg, Lausanne and Bonn (doctorate in 2005) and was admitted to the bar in 2003.
